TUNING AND MAINTENANCE
In order to ensure that your pipe organ remains in fine playing condition at all times, we offer an expert maintenance department. We can provide various maintenance programs based upon instrument usage and the environmental issues for your particular instrument.
Our standard program includes two, three
or four tuning/service visits per year and emergency service.
Regular tuning and maintenance of your pipe organ is the best way to ensure reliability and overall preservation.
Our tuners are experts at cone tuning, tuning of reeds, tuning wood pipes and a whole host of other families of pipes that make up typical church or concert hall pipe organs.
We take the time to learn about the unique needs of each pipe organ. This organ specific knowledge enables us to provide comprehensive and efficient tuning services.
REPAIR
We are reliable, professional, and passionate about pipe organs and solving the problems that may arrise such as dead stops, sticky and sluggish keys, unwanted notes and noises, unresponsive stops, and air leaks.
Our service technicians know how to thoroughly inspect an instrument, explain the work that needs to be done, and estimate how much it will cost to repair.
If your instrument sounds like it needs attention, don't hesitate to call us. If you have an emergency, check our tuning and maintenance calendar to see if we are in your area, or just give us a call.
RESTORATION/REBUILDING
Eventually, all pipe organ will need to be restored. Pipe organs are complex machines built from wood, felt, metal, and leather. All of these materials wear and deteriorate with time, and especially leather.
Regular maintenace can help to slow this process, but there comes a point where all the leather must be replaced. This is depending on how the leather was originally prepared and environmental conditions. Organ leather may last anywhere from 25 to 50 years or sometimes even longer.
The cost of an organ restoration is usually far less than the cost of building a comparable pipe organ today. Electronic instruments, though much improved, cannot fully replicate the effect of thousands of individual pipes, each a seperate handmade musical instrument with its own unique qualities.
Also, pipe organs can last for hundreds of years, while the life of electronic equipment is generally a few decades at best.
Our restoration team strives to return the instrument to the original condition. We use the same materials and techniques as the original builders, making changes only where needed to ensure durability and reliability.
